Koh Kret is an island situated in the Chao Phraya River, north of Bangkok. It is home to an ethnic Mon community that migrated from Burma approximately 200 years ago. Today, the residents are renowned for their craftsmanship in earthenware products and traditional Thai sweets. A notable landmark on the island is a distinctive tilting white tower, part of the local temple. This slanted tower, visible from the river, is believed to align with the Shwedagon Temple in Burma, adding to the island's unique cultural significance.

Located in the Chiang Rak Noi district on the east side of the Chao Phraya River, is a fascinating temple with unique features. Visitors can admire an engraved wooden pulpit, a preaching hall, monks’ cells, and a scripture hall, along with a rare ancient water filter. Every day around 3 p.m., prayers are held in the Mon language, offering a glimpse into the local culture. The surrounding village is beautifully maintained, having won the award for best preservation of the Chao Phraya River from the Ministry of Public Health in 1998. The area also showcases a blend of traditional Thai-Mon style houses, which are a rare sight.

Located in Tambon Ban Klang on the east side of the Chao Phraya River. Constructed in 1621 by the Mon ethnic minority from Pegu, is a significant temple in Pathum Thani. Named after the Mon's former home, it attracts visitors who come to honor three Buddha images and the statue of Luangpu Thian (Phrakhru Bowonthammakit), a respected monk and education advocate. Inside, you’ll find an ancient Mon-style Buddha image, a powerful sword named Phra Saeng Ayasit, and a lead sculpture of Ya-le, the pet dog of King Rama VI.

Located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a stunning temple built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother. Designed as a replica of the Angkor Temple in Cambodia, it features a large central prang (Khmer-style pagoda) surrounded by smaller prangs, symbolizing Mount Sumeru, the mythical mountain of the gods in Hindu belief. As one of Ayutthaya's most visited historical sites, the temple's beauty is enhanced by its enchanting nighttime lighting, making it a must-see destination for visitors.

This Temple built by King Rama V in 1876, is Thailand's only European-style temple, resembling a Gothic church. Located on an island in the Chao Phraya River opposite Bang Pa-In Palace, it is accessible via a free cable car. The temple features a striking ordination hall with steep Gothic roofs and stained glass depicting King Rama V. Inside, the main Buddha image, "Phra Buddha Narumol Dhammopas," is set on a cross-like base. The grounds also host an ancient seated stone Buddha image and a beautiful stone garden called "Diskul Anusorn." This unique temple is a must-visit in Ayutthaya.

The Temple of Dawn, is situated on the western side of the Chao Phraya River. Built in the early 19th century, it is named for its stunning beauty at dawn, when the morning light reflects off its surface. As a royal temple, it is one of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks. The central feature is a towering Khmer-style prang, with heights reported between 66.8 m (219 ft) and 86 m (282 ft). Surrounding it are four smaller prangs symbolizing Mount Meru. The towers are adorned with seashells and porcelain, and visitors can climb the main tower for panoramic views of the area.

The Old Customs House, built in 1880, once served as Thailand’s main gateway, where traders paid taxes to move goods in and out of the country. Later, it was converted into a firemen’s barracks. Today, the building remains a crumbling yet hauntingly beautiful home to the fire brigade, with its worn facade and rich history. Despite its important role in the past, no renovations or restorations have been made to date, leaving it as a reminder of the country's heritage and the passage of time.
