We partner with villagers to preserve their traditions, create sustainable livelihoods, and promote cultural exchange. Our eco-lodges and experiences are designed to support community-based tourism, ensuring that local people benefit directly from our initiatives. Through training programs, fair wages, and contributions to community development, we empower locals to thrive while maintaining their heritage and protecting the environment.

Our lodges and cruises are designed using sustainable materials, minimizing environmental impact while preserving local cultures. By integrating renewable energy solutions and promoting resource conservation, we ensure that our properties enhance, rather than harm, the surrounding ecosystems. Through these efforts, we offer guests an authentic and responsible travel experience that supports both the environment and local communities.

We are committed to supporting local businesses by sourcing products and services directly from nearby artisans, farmers, and suppliers. Almost 100% of our food is supplied by local people in the area where the lodge is situated, Tour activities are operated by local community members. Our team are the local community members, and they make every effort to purchase any resources needed for operations from family and community members.

We continually strive for resource efficiency and sustainable energy at our lodges by using solar-powered, USA-certified ECO hot water heaters, recycling, and treating wastewater responsibly. Leftover food is repurposed for village pigs, and we offer low-energy activities like trekking, rafting, and biking. We support pesticide-free vegetables, non-chemical toiletries, and are moving away from single-use plastics.

We actively support local communities by contributing monthly to the Village Bank, which is exclusively owned and operated by the hill tribe community. These funds are used to support community-driven projects aimed at improving quality of life and livelihoods. Initiatives include small business loans, agricultural projects, education support like school buses, and healthcare services such as vaccinations.These efforts help foster long-term sustainability and self-sufficiency within the community.

We actively work with a variety of local governments, universities and organizations to share and bring in their knowledge to improve our services and the livelihood of the villagers. In the past, we have partnered with the Forest Restoration Research Unit, Chiang Mai University, the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), and the Himmapaan Foundation.

A designated area in the lodge is provided for the villagers to display and sell their handicraft products to our guests. Many of the hill tribe women earn extra income by sewing and handicraft production. There is no charge for the rent and the villagers can keep all of their sales. Now the Ton Loong Village is one of the largest local suppliers and exporter of handicrafts in the region.

Lisu Lodge and Lanjia Lodge team members are comprised of local village members who are compensated with a monthly salary, a share of the guest service charges and contributions to social security, exceeding the basic requirements of the Thai labor standards. Lodge staffs receive necessary vaccinations and regular health checks. Uniforms and meals are provided to all team members.

It is our policy that all staff members at each of our experiences are local residents from the communities in the area. We work towards building the next generation of managers from the local community. Since the village’s main source of income has traditionally been from agricultural production, all staffs have time away from work to assist their families with the harvests. Asian Oasis personnel and Lodge staff receive regular training by professionals in related fields.

We prioritize strengthening the local economy by having local operators conduct guest experiences, These activities include white water rafting, trekking, batik-making, and long-tail cruises. Through annual training, we help our suppliers meet service standards, fostering community commitment to environmental protection and a sense of ownership.

We offer cruise experiences on traditional rice barges in Bangkok, helping to preserve these rare vessels. Our teak barges, the Mekhala, are operated by local residents along the Chao Phraya River. We support the Mon ethnic minority community, who migrated from Burma over a century ago and have been recognized for their commitment to tradition and sustainable practices.
